THE Prayer Wall

thecityofchicagoFebruary 2012

Dear Prayer and Fasting Partners,

There have been some exciting things happen since my last letter to you. For one, I am now a grandfather!! My grandson, Garrett, was born on Dec. 31st, both mother and baby are doing great. (It’s been a fun four weeks, with many more to come.) Thank you for praying for Sam and Angela Barnhart. Rocky, was born on January 13 and was a whopping 12 pounds! Everyone is doing well. (Sam did tell me that he’s growing the church the old fashioned way.) I had the opportunity to speak at The Anchor for a couple of weeks and it was very encouraging to see what God is doing at that church through Sam and his team. Here are some of the things I’d like to ask you to pray for this month:

Art of the Start Boot Camp in Bradley, IL: Held at Adventure Christian Church, this key event for church plants will have 4 – 5 different new church teams in attendance (including Steve Baker for our Elmhurst plant). Please be praying for Phil Claycomb as he leads, the different Ignite planters assisting the training and for the teams as they work on specific plans for their plants.

Steve and Amy Jo Baker: The family is feeling at home in the area and the children are making new friends at school. Continue to pray for Steve as he meets with community leaders to discover some of the different needs of the area. Also, pray for people living in the area who will become a part of the initial planting team.

Ignite’s C.O.O. search: We have been receiving some resumes from people interested in this role. Please pray for us as we begin to contact them and schedule initial interviews.

Next Steps for E.A.’s meeting: I will be traveling to Dallas the end of the month to participate in this meeting for church planting directors from across the country. This is a good time to network, learn more about best practices and spend time with others who understand what it takes to lead a church planting organization.

Donor Development: Recently, God has blessed us with some new team members in the Band of 300. These people have become a part of this team because I had a chance to sit down and ask them to participate. I believe in what we are doing through Ignite, so please pray for more opportunities to share what we are doing.

Key Meetings this month: I will be meeting with representatives this month from several different organizations and with a church plant taking place in Chicago. Partnerships are very important to what we are doing across Chicagoland and I’d like you to pray for what we are doing to develop these (and other) relationships.

Thank you for your consistent prayers for church planting. I know the difference they make and the strength they give our ministry.

Love in Christ, Lance
